Smith
Michael V. Smith is a queer writer who teaches in the interdisciplinary Creative Studies department at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna, BC. Smith has won a number of awards for his short film work and his writing, including the inaugural Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ Emerging Writers. His novel, Cumberland (Cormorant Books, 2002), was shortlisted for the Amazon/Books in Canada First Novel Award. His memoir, My Body Is Yours, was published by Arsenal Pulp Press, later translated into French by les Éditions Triptyque. Smith is an MFA grad from UBC’s creative writing program.
