Jury Citation

“Laura Matwichuk hangs poetry from the syntactical hooks of the sentence, offering us prose poems that are flexible, slightly surreal, both expansive and focused. They feature the kind of disjunction that invites the reader into the fold of meaning-making; like Matwichuk’s barn swallows, ‘they build a nest in our binoculars.’” — 2013 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award Jury (Mary Dalton, Susan Holbrook, and Phil Hall)
