Benjamin Hertwig's debut poetry collection Slow War received the poetry prize at the Alberta Book Awards and was a finalist for a Governor General’s Award Literary Award, the Raymond Souster Prize, and the Fred Cogswell Award for Excellence in Poetry. He is the recipient of a National Magazine Award for personal journalism and received Special Mention in a recent Pushcart Prize Anthology. Hertwig is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia, and is currently working on a novel and a second poetry collection. He lives in Vancouver.
