“Anand Mahadevan’s novel, The Strike, is a vividly rendered account of a boy’s growing awareness of his own sexuality, the political world outside the harbour of his family and the sad truth that his actions have consequences. In sturdy, nuanced prose, Mahadevan impels us through the story, plumbing themes of innocence and culpability, accident and responsibility, the private and the public.” -- 2013 Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ Emerging Writers Jury (Amber Dawn, Anne Fleming, and Vivek Shraya)Juror History
