| The Writers' Trust Award for Distinguished Contribution
Established in 2005, this prize is presented annually to an individual or an organization in recognition of their long-standing involvement with the Writers' Trust of Canada. The award honours those individuals and organizations which, through their on-going commitment of time, energy, and resources, have given selflessly to shape and further the aims of the Writers' Trust.
The 2008 award was presented to Rogers
Twelve years ago the Writers’ Trust decided to award an annual fiction prize. Rogers readily stepped up and agreed to sponsor the award, creating the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. Since then the prize has grown in value and continued to reward Canada’s finest writers. It has become one of the country’s big three fiction prizes and been presented to writers from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. All told, we estimate that in the last dozen years we have received from Rogers either through direct sponsorship or in-kind donation in excess of three-quarters of a million dollars. This money has been used to support not only the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize but also our various other programs.
