Donations

Give the gift of time and space to write.

A donation to the Writers’ Trust Fund in any amount is an investment in the future of Canadian writers. The WT Fund makes it possible for us to administer our grants and prizes, allows us to manage emergency grants, and facilitates our literary programs. Your support enables Writers’ Trust to create new initiatives in response to the changing needs of our community.

We welcome one-time and recurring donations, transformational gifts, bequests, or securities/stock. Donations can be made via our website, or through the United Way or similar foundations. Get in touch today to discuss the best giving options for you.

Corporate Gifts

Discover your company’s potential through charitable giving to Writers’ Trust.

The opportunity to lead in the promotion and recognition of Canada’s literary best is here. Play a vital role in fostering strength and excellence in Canadian writing. With options of sponsorship, corporate philanthropy, employee giving, or gift matching, this is a chance for your company to play a role in forming our country’s cultural landscape.

Readers' Circle

An opportunity to engage with Canadian authors and support the future of our nation’s literature.

Attend special events and engage in intimate conversations with authors both virtually and in-person. Participate in our interactive online Readers’ Circle Book Club, where we will feature our award-winning authors in conversation with you, our supporters. Learn more at writerstrust.com/circle.

Prize Fund

Enable us to award those most deserving of our support.

Writers’ Trust gives out eleven awards annually to writers at various stages of their career ranging from emerging talent, to individual books of the year, to career achievement in different literary genres. All the prizes are worthy, but not all are always fully funded by individual, foundation or corporate supporters. Established in 2021 with a founding gift from Margaret Atwood, and sustained by Ms. Atwood in 2022, WT Prize Fund enables transitional financial support to prizes that require a boost, thus ensuring their financial sustainability.

Events

Eat, drink, and be merry.

Writers’ Trust events are full of literary fun and raise vital funds for Canadian writers and writing. Learn more about our two largest fundraisers, the Writers' Trust Gala in Toronto and Politics and the Pen in Ottawa.
