Deirdre Dore

About the Story

“The Wise Baby” by Deirdre Dore is that wonderful rarity: a lightly told and very funny story that nevertheless bears great weight. Dore acquaints us with a narrator of remarkable freshness, intelligence, wit, and generosity, who is somehow managing to fail in all regards, quite spectacularly. With a style that appears effortless, the storytelling offers sprawling pleasures, including dead-on dialogue, a cast of strangely compelling beautiful losers, and an imaginative and original voice the reader will return to with pleasure.
